One of the founders of DGS, Chris has been a central part of shaping the platform from the very beginning. This mix reflects the direction he’s helped build over the years. As with the rest of the series, we continue to highlight artists who’ve been part of the DGS journey, with a closer look beyond just the music.

Can you describe yourself in 1–2 sentences?
I am an outgoing music enthusiast who now works exclusively with music. I’m from Norway and dedicate all my time to making music.

What is your relationship to DGS, and what has the platform meant to you?
I was part of founding Det Gode Selskap, and I’ve had a lot of joy being a part of it. Friendship, music, growth. Many of my closest friends are part of Det Gode Selskap, and it has been an important platform for us to work from and develop, something that has meant a lot to me over the years.

How would you describe your expression as a DJ/producer today compared to when you first started?
I've been dj'ing since 2000, so its evolved a lot over the years.. For sure! Music develops a bit like how you learn to taste food or wine, it’s about preferences, what you enjoy, and how those preferences are shaped over time. For me, quality, depth, and rhythm are very important, along with some element of a hypnotic approach. My favorite sets tend to go deep and percussive.

What kind of story or atmosphere did you want to convey with this mix?
I like to take the listener on a journey through my musical taste, usually building from something quite electronic in feeling, and gradually moving toward something more rhythmic and warm. In many ways, I’d say it’s like a five-hour set compressed into one hour.

Which 2–3 tracks from the mix would you like to highlight, and why?
I’d like to mention two tracks by an artist called Lypica, whom I’ve released on my new label, TRiER. The record is coming out on vinyl around May/June. It includes ane original track, the first one, and the third one, a remix of another track by Alexander Skancke. I’m really excited to get it out. The release will be distributed through Bikini Wax Records in Berlin, so I hope people will pick up a copy on vinyl.

Keep an eye out for this, we’ll add previews and links when released!

There is a lot of talk about negative trends in the underground scene and how everything was better before. What positive trends to you see in the club scene and underground right now?
I think the quality of music right now is very high. There are a lot of people experimenting and trying out new ideas, and the underground will never die. I don’t really focus on what’s happening in the commercial scene, that’s not something I’m involved in anyway.

The underground is strong, and having recently lived in Berlin, I can really feel that. Of course, the economic situation is challenging, but the level of passion in the underground is just as strong as ever. Many of my close friends are deeply dedicated to it, working incredibly hard and finding their own success within that space. So to me, there’s just a lot of positivity around being connected to the underground.

Are there any new artists or talents you think people should keep an eye on?
I think there are a lot of talents worth keeping an eye on. I’m not sure I have one specific standout, but for me, Fohn & Jerome are probably among the best right now, especially when it comes to the kind of music I like. They’re based in Berlin, and I consider them good friends. They’re incredibly dedicated and professional, amazing DJs and truly outstanding producers.
