Sven Väth (born 26 October 1964) is a German DJ and electronic music producer with a career spanning over four decades. He began DJing at his parents' pub in 1981 at age 17, then gained a residency at Frankfurt's Dorian Gray club in 1982. With Off (Organisation for Fun), he scored a European hit with "Electrica Salsa" in 1986. He co-founded Eye Q Records and Harthouse in the early nineties, then launched Cocoon Recordings and the legendary Cocoon parties at Amnesia Ibiza in 1999, which ran for two decades. Known as "Papa Sven," he is a three-time DJ Awards winner and was honored by the City of Frankfurt with the Goetheplakette for his contributions to cultural life. He released his first solo album in nearly 20 years, "Catharsis," in 2022 alongside Gregor Tresher. His commitment to vinyl and Technics turntables remains a hallmark of his sets. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of electronic music.
