Steve Bug (Stefan Brügesch) is one of electronic music's true originals. Resident Advisor called him the "gentleman of techno." Growing up in Germany's acid house and techno era, his DJ skills and innovative ear led him toward a hybrid sound merging deep house, acid and minimal techno. He started his DJ career in 1991 and released his first productions in 1993 on Hamburg's Superstition Recordings. He founded Poker Flat Recordings in 1998, a label whose influence on house and techno is widely recognized. His music has also appeared on Hot Creations, Nu Groove, Shall Not Fade, Bedrock, Minus, Cocoon and Defected. He has released seven studio albums and most recently launched Sublease Music, a Poker Flat sublabel focusing on deep, club-ready cuts. He originally trained as a hairdresser.
